November

*THANK YOU to all who donated their time, talent, or treasure so that the fourth grade students could enjoy the Halloween celebration!  The kids all seemed to have a good time, and I'm sure they consumed their fair share of sugar too!

*Congratulations to the students who met their AR reading goals for the first quarter.  Soon I'll be preparing a Lunch Bunch celebration for them.  Students were given their new goal folders for the second quarter on Wednesday, November 1st, and will soon take their STAR test to establish new reading levels.

*New reading levels have been established and students have worked with me to set new AR goals for the second quarter.

*Fourth graders will be in charge of Mass on November 21st.

*We celebrated our Lunch Bunch last Monday.  See a picture of the prideful students in the Photo Gallery of this web page.

*Students are currently working on their "Keep Christ in Christmas" posters.  They are due on December 6th, and will be judged at a later date.

*Next week we begin the season of Advent.  I am in the process of lining up a service project.  Hopefully we will be providing place mats for a Christmas meal at the nearby senior center.

*Please keep encouraging and expecting your child to work on math facts!

*I am currently reading "The Indian in the Cupboard"  by Lynne Reid Banks as a read-aloud book.  The kids are loving it, and I am too.  Somehow I am able to find a spot for "cliff hanging" every single day, and the kids squeal and beg me to keep going.   I know better, though; the "cliff hangers" keep students engaged from day-to-day and they make reading fun!  Somebody even found the sequel in the library and started reading it independently. (Don't you just love it when things work out the way you want them to work? :))
